There Is Too Much Repetition In The Way How You Design Images

Piggybacking of my earlier post and my take on the complaint...

Few years ago, 2019, I wrote about the importance of repetition, especially when you’re learning new skill like graphic design, online marketing, creative writing, or anything else, for that matter.

I discussed how it’s a good idea to revisit the same ideas and perhaps expand on them, going deep instead of wide.

However, someone, perhaps out of frustration, commented the following:

"There is too much repetition in the way how you design images"

To which I could only respond as follows:

For me, repetition means practice. It helps me remember things better and understand them more deeply.

While it's a well-known fact that repetition aids learning, there's something deeper to it.

Repetition not only enhances mastery but also enables one to notice new things and become an expert.

Instead of being bored by repetition, you should think of it as your brain's way of becoming stronger and smarter.

But don’t just take my word for it.

Numerous great minds have emphasized the importance of repetition. For some, it has even become their life’s work.

For example, one of the greatest salespersons, authors, and motivational speakers, Zig Ziglar, said:

"Repetition is the mother of learning, the father of action, which makes it the architect of accomplishment." - Zig Ziglar

Another quote I love is from Robin Sharma, who described repetition as the cornerstone of his success:

"Repetition is not boring; repetition is the mother of mastery." - Robin S. Sharma

And then there's the greatest boxer of all time, Muhammad Ali, who stated:

"It's the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen." - Muhammad Ali

In my opinion, without repetition, you wouldn’t exist.

If you consider your daily tasks, how many of them you repeat without even being aware, it might shock you.

Not to mention good and bad habits — whatever it is, you’re made of repetition.

Zooming in on graphic design, I want you to understand one thing...

When you design new images, it might seem like you’re doing the same thing again and again. That's good!

You might get bored and end up seeking new ways to do things (going wide instead of deep). Ignore the feeling.

I promise you, if you stick to one workflow, one way of crafting beautiful images, and perhaps try looking at it from different angles, it can actually help you learn and improve... and eventually master the techniques.

That's probably why only a few people become truly proficient at something, gain fame for it, or contribute new ideas to their field — which is somewhat ironic.

Anyways...

If you don’t mind me to show you my "repetative" workflow I use almost every time I design product images, social media content, flyers, product packaging, and more...

And you don’t mind me mumbling and stumbling on words…and find foreign accents mysterious and exciting to listen to, then by all means, drop everything you’re doing and join my Glorify Mini Workshop below.

P.S. Another brilliant quote that hit me...

"Repetition is the secret of perfection." - Martha Graham
